Gold fever ignited one of the greatest mass migrations in the 1800s, with prospectors packing up and heading for gold fields in California, Nevada, Colorado, Montana and virtually all points West. On Friday, April 8, the Araxine Wilkins Sawyer Memorial in Greene will share the spirit of that period in history with two showings of the film “Ghost Towns of The Wild West.” Viewers will visit real ghost towns and those barely hanging onto life, such as Elkhorn, Mo. The film will be shown at 2 and 7 p.m. Sawyer Memorial is at 371 Sawyer Road. Admission is free. For more information, call 946-5311 or visit www.sawyer-foundation.com.
