About Me
My name is Becca, and I am a social worker. I love living in Austin, Texas because it still has creative, interesting, progressive people at its core, despite the drastic changes in recent years. There are also great places to eat, drink, and play.
You have to go to
Barton Springs
Here's one fun activity you can do
Go to the Alamo Drafthouse for a movie, food and drinks: bonus points if you go to one of their special releases, such as a sing along or quote along, or a quirky non-major release.
Don't forget to check out one of my favorite places
Barton Creek Greenbelt. You can go hiking and swimming; bring your dog, bring a picnic, and feel like you're truly out in nature without having left the city.
Enjoy a meal at my favorite restaurant
Breakfast tacos at Veracruz All Natural, Tamale House, Pacos, Torchys and Tacodeli (some would scoff and call the last two "Austin's fast food," but they're good!
Here's a doable bucket list for you to do in one day
1. Wake up early and go to a 6 am or 7:15 am yoga class at Practice Yoga Austin -- it's donation based. 2. Grab some breakfast tacos from Veracruz All Natural on Cesar Chavez or a juice from Juiceland and head to Comal St. and make a left, park in the parking lot and walk the Town Lake Loop. From the east side, there's a nice loop that's a little over 3 miles long.
3. Either by car, bus, or a longer walk on foot, make your way to Barton Springs. It's $3 to get in and you cannot bring food or drink other than water. Bring a book and also make some time to people watch while sitting on the grass. If you dare, take a dip in the freezing-cold water.

grab lunch or drinks/snacks at one of the restaurants on barton springs road-- chuys or shady grove are very typically austin.

spend the afternoon/early evening bopping around the stores on south congress. could make your way over to the south lamar alamo drafthouse for a movie. eat somewhere on south congress, south 1st, or south lamar for dinner, then go to continental club or continental gallery to catch live music. could also work your way over to the red river music district (make sure to go to cheer up charlies!!)

make your way to the east side for a night cap at stay gold, drinks, violet crown social club, or justine's.
My extra insider tip for you is
Check showlistaustin.com for live music and do512.com. if you're in austin on a sunday, do brunch at hippie church at maria's taco xpress on south lamar-- music starts at noon.
