About Me
My name is Laura, and I am a retired. I love living in Tampa Bay Region, Florida because there's so much variety in both things to do and to see. There are great restaurants, beaches and swamps, nature and urban areas. We also have a great mix of cultures and more/less
You have to go to
Ybor City
Here's one fun activity you can do
The Illuminated Knight Parade in Ybor City
Don't forget to check out one of my favorite places
The Independent, in Seminole Heights. A great local gathering spot, with superb craft beers and excellent food.
Enjoy a meal at my favorite restaurant
La Teresita, a Spanish/Cuban restaurant, but don't forget the internationally recognized Bern's Steak House.
Here's a doable bucket list for you to do in one day
1. A stroll through Ybor City, with a quick visit to the Ybor City State Museum.
2. Then a stop for lunch at The Columbia restaurant for a Cuban sandwich and a cup of Spanish Bean soup.
3. Visit the History Museum.
4. Stroll along the Riverwalk (or maybe rent a Segway), past Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, and through the grounds of the gorgeous University of Tampa.
5. Drive along Bayshore Blvd, then on to the Cigar City Brewery.
6. Finish the day with dinner at either The Refinery or Fodder and Shine in Seminole Heights.
My extra insider tip for you is
Reserve a full day for St. Petersburg and its thriving downtown scene (The Dali Museum, bay-side restaurants, art studios) and the beautiful beaches, especially Indian Rocks.
