About Me
My name is Saskia, and I am a tour guide. I love living in Nice because I feel lucky to live here, and I'm struck by its beauty everyday.
You have to go to
Definitely the old town. The colors, the smells, the fresh flower market everyday--the atmosphere is great, and I simply love it :)
Here's one fun activity you can do
Personally, I'll put my sneakers on and walk around the city for hours, especially along the famous and beautiful "Promenade des Anglais". Alternatively, you can also rent the blue bikes to get around. The city's setting up more and more bike lanes to make it more convenient. To me, this is the best way to get a feeling for Nice.
Don't forget to check out one of my favorite places
I love the "Colline du Château" (Castle Hill). Don't look for the castle, because it's been gone for centuries ;D However, it offers one of the most beautiful views of Nice. It's the green heart in the city - quiet and appealing. The hill is a labyrinth, and you'll most likely end up getting a little lost. I hope you will get to see the waterfall, though. Sometimes there are organized yoga classes there, too - the perfect place for it as well!
Enjoy a meal at my favorite restaurant
The typical way is to grab a piece of socca (most famous local specialty) in the Old Town. But you can also go to Lou Balico, which cooks great, homemade local specialties! :)
Here's a doable bucket list for you to do in one day
I'll arrange my perfect day for you and hope you'll like it, too. :)
1. Start your day by taking a dip in my beloved Mediterranean Sea.
2. Afterwards, have a coffee and a piece of homemade cake at the adorable coffee shop "Les causeries de Blandine" in old Nice.
3. Next, stroll around the Old Town and discover the market and ask to taste as many things as you can ;D
4. Then, enjoy getting lost in the more modern part of the city and have a look at the Modern Art Museum (free and cool), or take a bus to Cimiez, a beautiful area where the Matisse and Chagall Museums are located.
Then I would spend the rest of the afternoon lying on the beach (or shopping on the avenue jean Medecin if it is not summer yet!)
And after a good shower, I'd dive back in the old town (I love it what can I do? ) for a Spritz at the "Tote & Mamie Charlotte bar" with a local specialities platter as an appetizer to share ... And I'd end up having dinner at Le petit Lascaris with local fresh produces...
My extra insider tip for you is
It's a great city to discover by foot!
