Visit City

About Me
My name is Matt, and I am an international development professional. I love living in Bogota because it's a sprawling, cosmopolitan city with year-round pleasant weather (not too hot, not too cold). Crime has decreased considerably in the past decade, so the city is a focal point of the country more/less
You have to go to
A visit to the Gold Museum.
Here's one fun activity you can do
Ride your bike (or rent one) all around the city on Sundays during the ciclovia, when major avenues are closed to all vehicle traffic. Then, get a gelato with inventive flavors from the purple ice cream truck that parks near Park Virrey.
Don't forget to check out one of my favorite places
Usaquen is a neighborhood of Bogota that I live close to. It was its own separate village until Bogota expanded around it, but it has retained its quaint and walkable village-like atmosphere within the urban environment. There is a good flea market on Sunday mornings and excellent restaurants and cafes are found on almost every corner.
Enjoy a meal at my favorite restaurant
Santo Pecado: delicious regional Colombian dishes. You can try different foods from diverse regions of the country. When you get thirsty, the drink of choice for many Colombians is whisky or aguardiente, or fresh squeezed juice from an unheard of tropical fruit--if you’re on the wagon. Colombian rum is also (not surprisingly) popular. Also, there are a couple of small Colombian craft beer breweries in the city that are good for a pint.
Here's a doable bucket list for you to do in one day
1. Visit the historic colonial center.
2. Head up Monserrat mountain in a cable car for a great view of the city.
3. Dine at a great restaurant in the Zona G.
My extra insider tip for you is
Taxis are cheap and can be easily hailed through a smartphone app. But don’t be afraid to ride the city's new blue bus system around town for a (almost) free tour of the city.
My favorite places to be

La Casa Amarilla
