Visit City

About Me
My name is Sharon, and I am a writer/journalist, contracted instructor. I love living in Las Vegas, Nevada because the city and the surrounding suburbs are all so different and there is always somewhere exciting and interesting to explore. We have the beauty of nature as well as the more/less
You have to go to
The Mob Museum
Here's one fun activity you can do
Visit the Atomic Testing Museum and Area 51 display and, if possible, sign up for the actual day trip to the Atomic testing site. It may not sound like fun but it's sure educational and thought-provoking!
Don't forget to check out one of my favorite places
Gilcrease Orchard is unique to Las Vegas. You can pick your own produce or buy it at the check-out. They even have homemade peanut butter, the best cider in town and local honey. Picking your own apples and pears in season and your own vegetables is like almost having a garden of your own! Very reasonable and so much fun!
Enjoy a meal at my favorite restaurant
Any of the buffets at any of the Casinos. The M Resort and Casino is the best in town
Here's a doable bucket list for you to do in one day
1. Ethel M Chocolate Factory and Botanical Cactus Garden (Henderson)
2. Fremont Street Experience (vintage Vegas with a huge LED canopy)
3. Clark County Museum OR Springs Preserve
4. Atomic Testing Museum/Area 51 Display
5. The Mob Museum
My extra insider tip for you is
Don’t be afraid to explore and go off-Strip. That’s just the smallest part of the city to see - considering the sheer size of the place - and so expensive. Visit Sunset Park and walk, run or play frisbee and feed the ducks or get a license and go fishing. Visit Sam’s Town for the laser light show projected on the waterfall at Mystic Falls and enjoy the animatronic animals. Go see the mermaids in the huge aquarium at the Silverton Hotel and Casino. Explore the Flamingo Garden behind the Flamingo Hotel for an actual secret garden. See the real history of the city at The Mob Museum and the Clark County Museum. You can spend hours at each of these sites. Take a short trip to Boulder City and visit Hemenway Park to watch the mountains goats go up and down the hills or fish at Veteran’s Park. The possibilities are endless and if you want to chill out, just go up Mount Charleston for instant relief.
